Steve Wynn allegations could hurt future of Wynn Resorts Limited

The sexual misconduct allegations recently levied against American casino magnate Steve Wynn (pictured) could reportedly have a negative long-term impact on his Wynn Resorts Limited casino-operating enterprise by affecting its ability to successfully renew or maintain its gaming licenses. Seventy-six-year-old Wynn serves as Chief Executive Officer for Wynn Resorts Limited, which runs a string of luxury integrated casino resorts in Las Vegas and Macau, and he was accused via a Saturday story published in The Wall Street Journal newspaper of possibly pressuring some of his workers into performing sexual acts. According to a report from the MarketWatch financial information service, these allegations have led to the share price for Las Vegas-based Wynne Resorts Limited dropping by as much as 9% since Monday while credit rankings firm S&P Global Ratings subsequently decreased the company’s BB- ratings outlook from ‘stable’ to ‘negative’. S&P Global Ratings reportedly declared that its downward revision had reflected ‘the significant uncertainty surrounding the resolution of various investigations into the misconduct allegations against’ Wynn including one recently announced by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission regarding the billionaire’s ‘suitability and integrity’ to run gambling at the under-construction Wynn Boston Harbor Resort. “This includes the extent to which these allegations impair Wynn Resorts Limited’s brand and hurt cash flow, whether the company is able to maintain its gaming licenses, whether there will be a transition in leadership and, if so, what form that might take,” reportedly read a statement from S&P Global Ratings.

Magic in the Garden of Eden
Magic in the Garden of Eden

Basseterre, the capitol of St. Kitts in the Caribbean's Leeward Islands, is a charming city with French architecture, coconut palm trees, cannons, ancient museums and bustling hard-working people who greet each day with a smile.

There is a pizza parlor that makes, frankly, the best pizza I have ever eaten. It is located about two blocks from the pink palace that houses the governmental headquarters. That is where the Prime Minister and his Ministers have their officers.

I worked as editor of The Observer, a weekly newspaper that served the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, for two years before my work permit expired. My publisher was Kenneth Williams, a native of Trinidad who prided himself on printing a politically independent newspaper that kept locals as well as tourists informed on island and world events.

One of my favorite past times in St. Kitts was to wander through the narrow twisting streets. I would pass fruit vendors selling anything from mangoes to passion fruit and sea grapes. There were open-shuttered bars where you could buy a bottle of Carib or Heineken's Beer for the equivalent of .85 cents U.S. And there would always be island food -- roast pork, black beans, plantains, rice and whatever else the cook could conjure.

My days were spent assigning reporters to stories and to interviewing Ministers on the various projects they were involved in to improve the lives of the people. I spent my evenings at the island bars and restaurants and visited the Marriott Hotel's Jack Tar Casino two or three times a week.

There I would play blackjack, video poker or live poker. My foes at the table included business owners, sugar cane laborers and police officers who took their poker seriously.

One of the players was a smiling black man who was a native of St. Kitts. Jerome was a muscular individual who wore a gold cross around his neck. He was a regular reader of The Observer and told me he liked my by-lined stories.

I asked him what he did for a living. He smiled and said, 'I grow plants in my Garden of Eden.'

Really, I said?

'God actually grows the plants but I tend to them to benefit humanity,' he said. 'If you would like, I could show you my garden. You may even be interested in writing a story about it.'

He gave me instructions on how to find the place. The next morning, I walked from the newspaper office and found my way to Jerome's Garden of Eden.

He lived in a small one-bedroom house on the property. There were over 100 different plants in the well-attended garden, including the digitalis plant. My father had suffered a heart attack and was taking digitalis pills for his condition.

'The pills are made from this plant,' Jerome said. He produced a book and showed me the scientific names of all the plants growing in his garden. I borrowed the book and write a story about the Garden of Eden.

One of the plants was used to make Noni, a healthy drink made from the Noni tree. It is packed with anti-oxidants and is used to treat inflamed joints as well as heart disease. The drink was a bit harsh but tasted like grape juice.

I kidded him. 'What about the Blessed Herb?' I asked. 'Do you grow that?'

He gave me a serious look. 'Of course,' he said. 'I am Rastafarian and I believe in the spiritual as well as the healing qualities of Ganja.'

I wrote an article about the Garden of Eden. It is a special place of peace, good health and good karma. If you are ever lucky enough to make it to St. Kitts, be sure to visit the place. It will be a rewarding journey.

Solaire Resort and Casino customers to be rewarded with shares

In the Philippines, the Bloomberry Resorts and Hotels Incorporated subsidiary of casino operator Bloomberry Resorts Corporation has reportedly spent approximately $82,468 in order to purchase shares in its parent that it subsequently intends to award to ‘loyal patrons’ of its Solaire Resort and Casino. According to a report from the Manila Bulletin newspaper, the subordinate acquired some 382,900 shares in Manila-listed Bloomberry Resorts Corporation, which also holds a majority stake in the firm behind South Korea’s Jeju Sun Hotel and Casino, after receiving consent from its parent’s board of directors. “These shares shall be given as a reward to Solaire [Resort and Casino’s] loyal patrons and as part of Solaire [Resorts and Casino’s] marketing program,” reportedly read a statement from Bloomberry Resorts Corporation. The newspaper additionally reported that the first nine months of 2017 saw Bloomberry Resorts Corporation realize an over 275% increase year-on-year in its unaudited consolidated profit to just over $116.1 million. The firm purportedly attributed this success to the record performance of its Solaire Resort and Casino and the first positive earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization from its Jeju Sun Hotel and Casino since the venue was acquired in 2015. “We continue to grow across all sectors and hope to see this uptrend continue until the end of the year,” reportedly read a statement from Enrique Razon, Chairman and majority shareholder for Bloomberry Resorts Corporation. “Our top line and bottom lines are positive and, despite some minor hiccups, I am confident that 2017 will be a banner year.”

Hard Rock Casino AC to begin hiring this week

Hard Rock Casino AC to begin hiring this week

As Hard Rock International prepares to open the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City, the company is going to need employees to work at the gaming venue and hotel. Starting this week, Hard Rock will begin the hiring process by hosting career events. On January 30th and 31st, the Atlantic City casino will host invite-only events for individuals who worked for the Trump Taj Mahal for at least 30 days before the venue closed. The Hard Rock Casino is of course located within the former Taj Mahal casino and the new operator is looking to give former employees of the Taj first dibs on jobs at the new venue. According to the Press of Atlantic City, former employees of the Trump Taj Mahal that would like to attend the events offering career opportunities need to submit an application online. Hard Rock officials will be reviewing the applications and selecting individuals to invite to the events this week via email with an invitation. Applications can be found here. From the Hard Rock Job Listing page, potential employees can find information on the jobs available. Searches can be completed with keywords for job openings as well as within categories such as Café Staff, Casino Operations, Administration, Housekeeping, Hotel Food & Beverage and more. Interested individuals can easily search for openings based on their skill set as well as former position within the Taj to see what might be available. The hiring process for the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City must begin as Hard Rock International plans on opening the property this summer. It will not be surprising to see many former employees of the Trump Taj Mahal vying for spots at the new casino. Taj employees had been on strike for several months before the former owner, Carl Icahn, shut down the casino in October 2016 after failing to reach a negotiation deal with union workers regarding issues involving health and pension benefits. In early 2015, the Taj Mahal was acquired by Icahn Enterprises LP through a bankruptcy court restructuring and in January 2016, an appeals court ruled that the Taj was within its rights to end pension benefits and health insurance to its workers, ruling in favor of Trump Entertainment Resorts, the casino's parent company, which ended benefits in October 2014 as part of its bankruptcy filing.

Bitcoin Cash Games Launched

Bitcoin Cash Games Launched
Bitcoin Cash Games Launched

The world of cryptocurrencies just got another huge boost within the online gambling industry. Bitcoin.com, the number one info portal for all things Bitcoin, has had their own casino gaming platform called Bitcoin Games for a while now – it was launched in September 2017. Now, it's been significantly enhanced and broadened in that it also has a gaming portal that uses Bitcoin Cash (BCH). The sheer lightweight nature of BCH which makes transactions way faster and less expensive will make many players happy to hear this news.

BCH Games – much like its parent domain - requires no registration (so you can play anonymously if you prefer), has an expected RTP of 99%, provably fair games and instant payouts! Look forward to choosing between a hefty selection of games, too, as players are faced with a gaming catalogue containing video poker, Blackjack, Craps, Keno, Roulette, Dice and, of course, a slice of slot games for your spinning pleasure. Each game can yield instant high-stake jackpots, so it's not just fun and using revolutionary monetary technology – it can also get pretty fruitful.

Explaining the provability of their games, the portal states as follows: “The reason that we can guarantee provably fair gaming is that your web browser supplies a random number that we must incorporate into the random number generator in a provably consistent way (…) Our server first shuffles the deck, and your computer then gives us a random number that we must use to repeatedly cut the deck. Since our servers do not know what random number your computer will send, we have no way of knowing how the shuffle will look in the end.”

The games are open for players all around the world, “except for the US and few other destinations,” due to regulation restrictions. However, the portal goes on to explain that, “US residents can still play the games with test credit.”

Bitcoin Games, launched in fall of 2017, was envisioned as an, “ultimate destination for playing classic casino games with Bitcoin,” that harks back to the days of old and classic game consoles, which is somewhat stated with the very elemental looks of the website. You can easily switch between Bitcoin Games and BCH Games platforms with a clearly visible dropdown menu at the top-left side of the page.

What do you think of the new platform? Will you be using it or are you just glad that further recognition has been given throughout the gambling industry mechanisms? Shout it out in the comments below...

One of the leading exchange platforms for digital money in Japan, bitFlyer, has propelled on the old continent after receiving a license to work within the European Union. The trade presently supports BTC/EUR transactions, with an arrangement to include several different digital currencies by the end of the year. Earlier in November 2017, when Bitcoin skyrocketed to $6900+ for the first time, bitFlyer was among the busiest exchanges in the country.

Acquiring a permit to operate in the European Union has made the platform highly flexible, as it now successfully works on three different continents. The organization will be headquartered in Luxembourg as a daughter company, under the name of Bitflyer Europe S.A. Member state of the Benelux Union has issued a Payment Institution permit to the establishment via Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF).

The country’s Minister of Finance has proudly welcomed one of the Japan’s most successful startups, whose first transactions in the EU will not include any trading fees. The offer is valid throughout February and it is primarily targeted at high-volume traders.

Further development of the platform is scheduled later this year, when other cryptocurrencies such as Litecoin, Ethereum and Bitcoin Cash will be integrated. Yuzo Kano, bitFlyer’s CEO and founder, said that the regulatory status of all digital assets is fundamental for future transactions and the industry.

As part of the most efficient and profitable exchanges in Japan, the organization currently counts over 1 million users and holds the Japanese Financial Services Agency license. Its operations are widely spread in the United States too, after obtaining permits from 41 states, along with New York. Additionally, BTC transactions via this platform are also available in Illinois, Louisiana, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Nevada, and others.

Arsenal F.C. agrees cryptocurrency sponsorship deal

One of the English Premier League’s biggest teams, Arsenal F.C., has reportedly inked a partnership deal with US-based CashBet, a cryptocurrency designed for sports betting, online casino and eSports. Via the deal, which was announced on January 24, the same day as CashBet Coin was due to be launched, the professional football club based in Highbury, London reportedly becomes world football’s first team to partner with a cryptocurrency. The iGaming cryptocurrency, which can be used on apps powered by CashBet and iGaming sites, hopes to benefit from Arsenal’s extensive reach as a football club which receives global support. Per the agreement, the California-based CashBet Coin will be advertised during Premier League home games inside the Emirates Stadium. The value of the deal was reportedly undisclosed. Commenting on the new partnership, CCO for Arsenal, Vinai Venkatesham, said: “We are pleased to welcome Cashbet Coin as our partner. We are looking forward to working with CashBet Coin as they launch their new cryptocurrency,” according to the Evening Standard. Also commenting on the deal, Founder and CEO for CashBet, Dr. Mike Reaves, said: “With our ICO for CashBet Coin, we are actively targeting a global, multi-billion dollar marketplace of iGaming content providers, operators and players. “We are delighted to do so in partnership with one of world football’s true giants in Arsenal, enabling us to build our brand and engage this audience in a meaningful way.” The deal comes as a growing number of business leaders and regulators express concern regarding the potential dangers to consumers who risk their savings in unregulated virtual currencies. According to British daily newspaper The Guardian, the Financial Conduct Authority, a financial regulatory body in the United Kingdom, warned consumers in 2017 that if they invested in Bitcoin, they should be prepared to lose their money. The Guardian reports that the FCA waved comment on the decision by Arsenal to promote a cryptocurrency, but that it was pointed out by a spokesman that the regulator was planning to “conduct a deeper examination of the fast-paced developments” of initial coin offerings (ICOs) and if necessary, would take “further regulatory action.” For its part, CashBet reportedly said that it was pleased to have secured a deal with Arsenal as the company is “actively targeting a global, multibillion-dollar marketplace of i-gaming content providers, operators and players,” as reported by The Guardian.

Players are in for a big suprise at Slotastic this month, as the renowned, full-featured gaming platform gets ready to launch Fu Chi video slot from Realtime Gaming. To celebrate the Chinese New Year, the operator is giving away 50 free spins on the new Asian-themed game, but only to real money depositors. The promo runs until February 4th, as well as the additional bonus.

The national holiday is otherwise called the Lunar New Year, and it represents the largest festivity in the country. Since it announces the next season, it is also known as the Spring Festival. Starting on February 16th, and accompanied by the Lantern Festival, 2018 will be the Year of the Dog. It is believed that people who are born in this year will be honest and loyal.

Fu Chi comes with five reels and amazingly beautiful symbols such as lotus blossoms, money bags and ancient calendars. As one might guess, the Lucky Dog represents the Wild. All winning combinations are doubled when this icon kicks in. Correspondingly, scatters trigger an avalanche of 50 free spins and wins are tripled if no wilds land on the reels during this period. There are also two jackpots available; a minor capped at $250 and a major offering a whopping $1,000 USD as a prize.

New year casino promos are available between January 24th and February 4th, so if you want to grab the bonus, use code, SLOTMANIA, and win up to $555 USD in reload cash. To get fifty free spins on the new title from RTG, place a $25 deposit and use FUCHI50 right afterwards.

MGM Cotai allocated 125 tables, 77 more may be transferred

MGM Cotai allocated 125 tables, 77 more may be transferred

The DICJ, Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, has allocated MGM China Holdings Ltd 125 new to market tables for their MGM Cotai property which is expected to open in February. The tables will be allocated in parts with 100 available upon opening and the remainder to be allowed on January 1, 2019. Secretary for Economy and Finance Lionel Leong Vai Tac made the announcement to reporters yesterday according to a report on GGRAsia. The company was also authorized to place up to 900 slot machines at the property. Mr. Leong also said that MGM could move up to 77 tables from MGM Macau which opened ‎18 December 2007. It was later reported that all 100 new tables are destined for the mass market floor. No specific numbers were given for the transferred tables in terms of Junket and VIP room operations. Macau has been operating under a market cap for new tables since 2013. While analysts have been able to predict allocations to some degree, based on a maximum 3% per annum allotment, the awards are entirely at the discretion of the DICJ. Some analysts were expecting a larger allocation for MGM Cotai. Galaxy Macau Phase II and Studio City each received 250 new tables when they opened in 2015, while Parisian Macau and Wynn Palace each received 150 total new tables when they opened in 2016. According to another report, Morgan Stanley said in a note today: "We believe consensus were expecting 150 tables over the next two years and may be disappointed to get total of 125 tables. "One of the key reasons could be the licence expiry for SJM/MGM in March 2020. We believe once the licence extension is sorted, it is possible to see MGM China receiving more tables for this project," the banking group added. The licenses of all six concessionaires are set to expire on various dates between 2020 and 2022. The government has not announced a clear policy on how licenses will be renewed or if they will be up for bid on the open market.

Watch Out for The Pros

Basic training in the U.S. Military does strange things to a person. The Army likes to boast that it brings out the best in a young person. Perhaps it does on a physical level. But it can also bring out the worst.

Before I reported for basic training at Ft. Ord, CA. in October 1960, I was not a drinker. They served 3.2 beer at the base and the stress of going through daily military maneuvers, physical training and dealing with officers caused many recruits to turn to alcohol as a temporary way of coping with life.

Our evening hours and weekends were also spent gambling. We had a regular poker and blackjack game in the day room that attracted a lot of action. I wasn't an expert at blackjack or 21, but I knew the rules of the game and I felt I was lucky enough to try my skills against the other players.

One of the blackjack players was Luther, a quiet, solidly built young man who wore glasses. Luther had grown up on a farm in Iowa. He loved physical labor -- he was built as strong as a bull -- and somewhere along the way, he had learned how to play blackjack.

I mean, Luther could play blackjack.

Who knows what was lurking in his mind when he sat down at the table? He could have been counting cards or use a basic strategy. But when he played blackjack, he played to win and he took a lot of money from the other GIs and me during our eight weeks of basic training.

I would joke with him about his abilities and told him I knew he was too honest to cheat. He seemed genuinely hurt by the suspicion that he was cheating.

'I never cheat,' he said quietly. 'Blackjack is just a game I know how to play well. You're not a very good player. I hate to take money from you, but if you insist on playing...' He simply shrugged his shoulders and rolled his eyes. I smiled and shook my head. We both laughed.

There was a corporal who played in the game who didn't like Luther. He especially didn't like the fact that Luther was taking all the money in the blackjack game.

One Saturday the corporal had been drinking. He sat down at the table and peeled out some folding money. Luther already had a stack of cash in front of him.

'I'm going to carve you a new a--h---,' the corporal snarled, sipping his beer.

Well, he didn't. Luther's skill and the inebriated condition of the corporal spelled disaster and he just started losing like the rest of us. Finally, the corporal couldn't take it any longer. He staggered to his feet and lunged across the table, making a round-house swing at Luther.

Luther's glasses flew off his face, but he rose to his feet and simply wrapped his powerful arms around the corporal, rendering him as helpless as a chicken in the clutches of a butcher.

The corporal flailed his arms but all his efforts were useless. He finally stopped struggling.

'Do you give up?' said Luther quietly. 'I don't want to hurt you.'

'I give up,' the corporal mumbled. Luther released him and he left the day room and returned to his barracks.

When we graduated from basic training, I was given my new orders and waited for a military train to transport me to Fort MacArthur in San Pedro, CA. My assignment would keep me on a Nike-Hercules missile site for the duration of my two years in the Army. I asked Luther where his new assignment would take him.

He shrugged and handed me the assignment sheet.

'Somewhere in the Mideast,' he said. 'Vietnam.'

Another delay hits the opening of Macau’s luxury The 13 hotel

Another delay hits the opening of Macau’s luxury The 13 hotel

In Macau, local hotel developer The 13 Holdings Limited has reportedly announced that it has again postponed the opening of its The 13 property and does not now expect to begin welcoming guests to the luxury venue until the end of April. Costing approximately $1.6 billion to build, The 13 had originally been due to commence operations on a 65,000 sq ft plot of land near the border between the Cotai and Coloane districts of Macau last July but this deadline was later missed after the developer ran out of usable cash. The 13 Holdings Limited, which was previously known as Louis XIII Holdings Limited until a 2016 name-change, subsequently floated a March 31 opening date as it undertook steps to raise additional funds. According to reports from Asia Gaming Brief and GGRAsia, one of these actions reportedly saw the developer initiate a capital reorganization program that it explained would allow it to save approximately $223.5 million by consolidating shares and reducing exposure. Hong Kong-listed The 13 Holdings Limited has now reportedly declared that it hopes to open The 13 ‘on or before’ April 30 while additionally stating that it already holds all of the necessary non-gaming licenses from the Macau Government Tourism Office. “Additional time was required by both the company and the valuer for the preparation and the due diligence works in respect of the valuation assessment on The 13 hotel project, which resulted in delays in the expected timetable for the rights issue,” reportedly read a statement from The 13 Holdings Limited. “The hotel opening, as at the latest practicable date, is expected to be on or before April 30, 2018.” Regarding rumors that The 13 may one day feature a casino, The 13 Holdings Limited reportedly proclaimed that the authorization to operate any such venue remains ‘subject to the approval of the Macau government’ and, therefore, the likelihood that such an enterprise will open ‘remains an uncertainty’.

Poker Legend Gus Hansen Sues Former Friend
At the beginning of this week, poker legend Gus Hansen has posted clips of himself via Instagram that showed he was just outside the premises of a Copenhagen courthouse, to which he meant to sue his former pal and business partner, musician Rasmus Nøhr, for a total of 896,000 Kroner (approx. $150,000). The dispute started in 2015, when Hansen accepted an offer made to him to invest in the Danish music festival "Danmark Dejligst" (Denmark the Best) that Nøhr set up in 2012. Both of[...]
